Here is what you will find on this website:

• A basic but thorough description of what orienteering is, some of the different types of orienteering, and a list of my reasons for choosing to continue to participate in the sport.
• A basic overview of the skills required for orienteering, the equipment generally required and some absic info about how to actually use that equipment.
• Some information about where one can orienteer, and how the orienteering club system actually works in the US.

Note from the author:

Orienteering is a competitive navigation-based sport. I've done orienteering since I was 9, and recently I began doing it competitively as an actual sport. Sadly, orienteering isn't too popular in the United States, and so I often do what I can to raise awareness. Last year, I made an orienteering team at my high school: StuyOrienteers. I go to almost all local events in the NYC area, and try to go to as many NREs (Nationally Ranking Event) as I can. I think orienteering is a wonderful sport and I will continue doing it and trying to get better at it.
